Thomas R. Harley
Principal architect Tom Harley has designed a wide variety of projects and building types throughout Western Pennsylvania and Indiana County over the last 40 years. He is experienced in providing design and construction services for high end residential, low income, elderly and family residents in single building, townhouse and walk-up apartment construction. He also has a special interest and expertise in the area of historic preservation & timber frame construction as well as barn relocation. His designs include high energy efficiency, thoughtful and efficient use of spaces, and visionary ideas blurring and connecting indoor and outdoor spaces.
Harley is actively involved in a number of professional organizations including: American Institute of Architects, Pennsylvania Society of Architects, Pittsburgh Chapter of AIA and Urban Land Institute. A lifelong fascination with history prompted his membership in The B&O Rail Road Historical Society, The Historical and Genealogical Society of Indiana County. In 2023, he was selected by the governor to serve as the architect member on the PA Industrial Board. And the National Trust for Historic Preservation Forum.
Mr. Harley earned his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from North Dakota State University in Fargo North Dakota. He minored in history and interior design. He earned his Master of Architecture from Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His master's thesis was on the history of the Alvin Theater in Pittsburgh.
